Frequently Asked Questions

Is anything uploaded when I scan a QR code?

No. The photo and every camera frame are decoded on your device by a JavaScript library running in this page. Nothing is sent to a server, and the camera stops as soon as a code is read.

Why did it not find the QR code in my photo?

Blur, glare, low light and codes that fill only a tiny corner of the frame are the usual causes. Retake the photo closer, straight-on and in good light, with the whole code visible, and try again.

Can I scan a QR code from a screenshot?

Yes. Upload the screenshot the same way as a photo — screenshots are usually the sharpest source of all, so they decode reliably.

Is it safe to open a link from a scanned QR code?

Read the result first — this scanner shows you the full text or address before you tap anything, so you can check where a code really leads before opening it. Avoid codes that ask for banking logins or unexpected payments.
