One PDF at a time · up to 50 MB · processed in your browser
How it works: your PDF is re-saved with compressed object streams and unused data cleaned up. Text-based PDFs shrink well; image-heavy PDFs (scans, photo pages) shrink less, because the pictures inside are already compressed.
How to use the Free PDF Compressor
- Drop a PDF or click to browse (up to 50 MB).
- Choose whether to strip document info like title and author.
- Hit Compress PDF and download the smaller file.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much smaller will my PDF get?
It depends on the PDF. Text-based PDFs often shrink noticeably. Image-heavy PDFs — scans or photo pages — shrink less, because the pictures inside are already compressed.
What if my PDF doesn't get smaller?
Re-saving can occasionally produce a file the same size or slightly bigger, because the new file structure adds a little overhead. In that case the tool says so honestly and keeps your original — it never presents a bigger PDF as “compressed”. Try the metadata-strip option once, or compress the images inside the PDF first.
Does compression change how my PDF looks?
No. The content, pages and layout stay exactly the same. Only the file's internal structure is re-saved more efficiently.
Are my PDFs uploaded anywhere?
No. Compression happens entirely in your browser. Your PDF never leaves your device.
